Nike has teamed up with several local Chicago sneaker retailers to craft a new pack celebrating the Windy City’s history. This week, the Air Force 1 joins the project, dressed in a ‘Claystone Red’ color scheme.
Nike’s relationship to Chicago has been strong since the days of Michael Jordan and the Bulls, as the iconic black and red color scheme from the AJ1 has grown to become a signature for both the city and the brand. This month, the Swoosh is paying homage to the Windy City, teaming up with several local retailers to create a two-piece pack of shoes inspired by their history. Last week, we saw the Air Max 1 ’86 surface as the first piece, and today, we have an official look at the Air Force 1 Low from the ‘Chicago’ pack. Inspired by the city’s older architecture, and the cow that allegedly knocked over a lantern to start the Great Chicago Fire in the 1870s, this pair begins with a white leather base layer, adding off-white cracked leather mudguards. The heel counters come in a crisp ‘Burnt Black’ tone, with vivid red Swooshes on the outer side. The cow itself gets a nice nod from the cow print medial side Swooshes, while the Windy City’s skyline decorates the tongues and insoles to complete the look.
