Nike’s Air Force 1 is all over the map this year, releasing in dozens of different versions already, though none stick out quite like this week’s announcement. Coming soon, Nike will be releasing a new crop of AF1’s equipped with Gore-Tex technology.

The Air Force 1 is getting ready for a big end to the year. In the past couple of weeks alone, projects with CLOT, Cactus Plant Flea Market, Travis Scott, and more have popped up on various blogs and release calendars, with plenty more on the way. Just this week, Nike unveiled the first look at an upcoming collection of the vintage basketball sneaker designed in partnership with Gore-Tex, purveyors of some of the best weather-proofing around.

The Nike Air Force 1 Gore-Tex collection consists of two different silhouettes in a total of 5 colorways. The first is the simple, classic look, a standard Air Force constructed from a mesh base layer with leather overlays, presumably lined on the inside with Gore-Tex’s signature waterproofing. The color options for this model include a light tan color mounted on top of a gum sole, an olive green & yellow accented version also riding a gum sole, and finally, an all Volt option for those who prefer a louder approach. Next up, the high-top version of the Gore-Tex Air Force. Designed as a part of Nike’s The10th franchise, which pays homage to Bill Bowerman’s time in the military, the new Gore-Tex AF1 High looks like its straight out of a military uniform, with its simple color schemes and wealth of technical features, including a zippered ripstop nylon inner bootie and adjustable tabs on the heels.

Nike’s new collection of Gore-Tex reinforced Air Force 1’s has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to drop sometime in the coming weeks, in time for the rainy season. Given the inclusion of waterproof Gore-Tex technology, we can expect these to carry an elevated retail price, especially for the high-top pairs, as well as a release from select Nike boutiques.
