Nike has been relatively quiet in regards to the Air Force 1’s 40-year-anniversary in 2022. However, we have an early look at an exciting ‘Los Angeles’ themed pair this week, constructing the shoe from some unusual textiles.

Introduced for the basketball court in 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 is turning forty years old in 2022, which is definitely cause for celebration in the Swoosh’s book. While releases have been relatively tame so far this year, today we got our first look at the Air Force 1 Anniversary Edition, seen here in a wonderfully detailed ‘Los Angeles’ theme. Constructed from a mix of smooth off-white suede and knit patterned-textiles, this is not your run-of-the-mill AF1. Zig-zag stitching along the toe box and quarter panels add some unusual flare, while tiny embroidered flowers are placed delicately around the silhouette. Finally, bold blue Nike branding for the tongue labels and Swooshes add a splash of color, while thick rope lacing completes the special-edition AF1.
