Nike first debuted a fully-functioning form of their Electronic Auto-Reactive Lacing technology back in 2015. Now, four years later, the next evolution is finally here. Check out the Nike Adapt BB, returning next month in a Nike MAG-inspired look.

The Nike Adapt BB is back for round 3. After making its debut during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in January, the Swoosh’s second widely-available auto-lacing shoe is set to drop in a third colorway later this month. The new look is a throwback to the original concept for Nike’s EARL technology first dreamt up in 1985 for the movie Back to the Future II. Titled the Nike MAG, it wasn’t until 2015 that the Swoosh would make their electronic lacing dream a reality, with the help of some heavy hitters like Tinker Hatfield and Tiffany Beers. Now, four years later, EARL is in full swing after the launch of the first completely court-ready Adapt shoe. Now, the signature look of the original MAG will find its way onto the new Adapt BB. Dressing the upper in a basic grey tone, the MAG’s eye-catching yellow, red, and green accents are applied to both the heel and tongue tabs, while a translucent blue outsole also harkens back to the classic ’85 look.
