Nike’s Autolacing Adapt footwear has been an interesting franchise to watch in recent years. Five years after its debut, the game-changing technology returns this year in the form of two Air MAG-inspired colorways for the Adapt BB 2.0.

When auto-lacing Adapt technology first hit the sneaker world in 2015, most of us could hardly believe it. Nike had literally taken a shoe they made up in the 1980s and made it a real thing, complete with motorized laces. Like, dude, are you kidding me? Right down to the colorful lights on the side, the Nike Air Mag was an exact recreation of the shoes Marty McFly donned in Back to the Future 2 in 1985. Since then, Adapt technology has grown more and more commonplace in Nike’s yearly offerings, currently available in a total of five silhouettes, although most are only purchasable in the aftermarket.

This week, we have a look at some new colorways of the Adapt BB 2.0, the current performance-based model for use on the basketball court. Sticking to their roots, this two-pack of colorways decks out the Adapt in the same colors as the original Air MAG, one pair in the true grey color scheme, and a second in a new black iteration. These pairs come with either a solid grey or black upper, emblazoned with a white Swoosh across the midfoot section. Blue speckles decorate either white or black midsoles, while icy blue outsoles and the MAG’s red, yellow, and green lights complete the look.

Nike’s next colorways of the auto-lacing Adapt BB 2.0 have not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to hit retail shelves sometime in the coming weeks, if not later during Fall 2020. As usual, this Adapt release will come in short supply, likely only releasing through official Nike channels as well as select high-tier retailers with a price tag of $400.
