Acronym and Nike go together like peanut butter and jelly. The techwear brand from Berlin is known for creating wild collaborative Nike shoes, like 2016’s Acronym Air Presto Mid that is scheduled to return in three colorway later this year.

In 2016, Nike gave technical wear label Acronym and it’s head, Errolson Hughs, the chance to redesign the famous Nike Air Presto. Known as the “T-shirt for your feet”, the Presto has been a favorite Nike model among collectors for almost two decades now. The shoe they created followed their classic design language, adding extraneous zippers and layers on the shoes to give a futuristic, sporty look while improving the sneaker’s resistance to weather. The Acronym x Nike Air Presto Mid debuted in three colorways, Black/Olive, Black/Bamboo, and Lava/Neon. Each pair sold out almost immediately upon release, a common practice for Acronym x Nike releases. Now, leak account Py_rates is back, this time touting new images of an upcoming “Dynamic Yellow” Acronym Air Presto Mid scheduled for release later this year.

The first colorway is a new look for the collaborative shoe, dyeing the flexible forefoot materials in a sharp yellow tone. The rest of the upper is covered mostly in black on the upper bootee, cages, and toe box paneling. A light grey plastic heel counter wraps around the outer heel for added support. The second colorway features slight changes to the color blocking. This pair retains the black base throughout the entire upper, instead opting for a “Cool Grey” sole and support cages. Lastly, the third and final colorway will be the loudest of the three, with a lava pink toe and bright blue upper bootee for contrast. Just like the colorways released previously, the shoe will feature a bevy of zippers around the heel for slip-on and off capabilities. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the shoes is the small/medium/large size chart, taken from the Presto’s days as your feet’s t-shirt, making sizing a little easier to comprehend as the shoe adapts to the shape it surrounds. The common size range of 9-12 is broken into the main three sizes, with US Men’s sizes 9-10 taking over the small size, 10-11 occupying medium, and 11-12 as the standard large size.

While Acronym and Nike have made no mention of this shoe yet, The new Acronym x Nike Air Presto Mid colorways are expected to release on September 20th, 2018. We now know that the three new colorways will retain the same $200 price tag as 2016’s pairs, and will be available both from Nike and select retailers.
