Boston-based brand New Balance has been churning out some of the most exciting new footwear of the last several years, and 2021 is no different. This week, New Balance debuted the 237, a sleek new lifestyle model inspired by a number of their heritage sneakers.
Last year, New Balance debuted the 327 runner through a series of excellent collaborations and a tight rollout schedule that kept the sleek silhouette at arm’s length from most sneakerheads for the first few months after its launch. Almost immediately, the 327 was a success, not only due to the fact that it was simply an intriguing shape, but its quality held up when you were finally able to try them on for the first time. Now, New Balance is following up on that success with the 237, another tribute to the brand’s past sneakers, but this time, with a more measured, consumer-friendly approach. The 237 launched today and is still readily available from the NB website. Borrowing elements from past greats like the 420, 1300, and Comp 100, the 237 is an elegant, unobtrusive model constructed from mesh and suede with leather accents for the oversized ‘N’ logos and heel tabs. Currently limited to a color-blocked version with the main panels in green, gold, and blue, more colorways have already leaked online to be released throughout the year.
