adidas Consortium has something entirely new in store for 2019. Instead of their usual method of designing limited edition versions of current shoes, instead, they are starting a project called Communitas, which gives unique shops a chance to design their own shoe.

adidas Consortium is back with a new special release program for 2019. After taking the last year off and basking in the glory of the Consortium World Tour and Sneaker Exchange programs, the design team behind adidas’ most limited sector is back to work on their most exciting project yet. Titled Communitas, the new program was dreamt up to give special sneaker boutiques a platform to design for their community and customer base. First up, adidas has tapped women’s sneaker store Naked in Copenhagen to debut their very own silhouette, the Magmur Runner.

The Naked x adidas Magmur Runner fits perfectly into the modern sneaker scene. the completely original design takes some pretty obvious cues from 80s and 90s adidas models, most notably the Falcon/Yung-1 that returned in 2018. The shoe is built on top of a brand new adiPRENE+ tooling that emphasizes different areas based on the support needed. The upper combines a mix of mesh, leather, and suede to create a heavily layered silhouette with a surprisingly sleek profile. The Naked’s adidas Magmur Runner will debut next week in two colorways, one mixing white and off-white tones for a monotonous look, and the other, labeled Friends & Family, adds deep blue and green accents to an otherwise white shoe.
