Nike’s Future Forum in New York last week is still making headlines in the sneaker world, thanks to the eclectic mix of new products shown. Among this was the latest collection from ALYX designer Matthew M. Williams, showing off the wild new Zoom MMW 4.
Matthew M. Williams is well-known for his out-of-this-world design, coming up with highly unique techwear as well as his take solid fashion staples through his brand 1017 ALYX 9SM. The Chicago-born creative also works on an ongoing collaboration between him and Nike, in which he releases regular collections of new footwear and apparel branded with his initials. The latest project from MMW and the Swoosh was debuted last week, during the Future Forum in New York City, and featured some of Williams’ wildest footwear yet. Currently known as the Zoom MMW 4, the new silhouette features a heavily layered upper on top of an extremely interesting sole unit. The sole begins with a visible Zoom Air unit under the ball of your feet, supporting most of the center of the shoe before standard EVA rubber fills in under the toes and arch. The rear of the sole features a large gap through the middle in an ovular shape, with rounded innder corners for maxiumum support. Nike’s Waffle-inspired outsole completes the wacky underside of the shoe, while the upepr features numerous layers of loose-knit mesh and chrome TPU stabilizing pieces. Nike and MMW branding can be found all over, completing the look.

The next project from ALYX designer Matthew M. Williams and Nike, tentatively titled the Zoom MMW 4, has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to drop sometime in the Summer of 2020. The wild new look will likely be accompanied by a high price tag in the $250+ range, and release from both partners as well as a variety of select retailers. Update 12/12/20: Matthew M. Williams latest signature sneaker with Nike, the MMW Zoom 4, has started to arrive at retailers this week, as well as surfacing in all of its official imagery via SNKRS. The wild new silhouette has not yet been announced for release, though they are likely to drop sometime in the coming weeks from both Nike and select boutique retailers, with a rumored price tag of $450.
