Matthew M. Williams and Nike have been slowly teasing their first signature silhouette for some time now. This week, we finally have a good look at the interesting new sneaker, titled the Nike Free TR 3 SP.

The ongoing collaboration between Matthew M. Williams’ Alyx and Nike has had a somewhat slow start to the initial rollout. First announced last year through a few cryptic social media posts, the New-York based, Italian-produced line of innovative, elevated apparel, shoes, and accessories are largely inspired by Williams’ youth in both California and New York, a unique style that has attracted the likes of many other collaborators besides Nike. However, this week, the Swoosh project is in the spotlight once again now that we have our closest look yet at the new signature silhouette.

Alongside official images of the new hybrid sneaker, we now know the name of MMW’s multipurpose silhouette, the Nike Free TR 3 SP. While we’ve seen the sneaker both in low-quality teasers and grainy on-feet images, we have never seen them this clearly. To begin, the upper is mainly constructed as a single-piece knit body made to mimic the classic Nike crew socks, thanks to a neat little Swoosh at the collar. Attaching the shoe to its renovated Nike Free outsole is a series of clear plastic overlays, adding some much-needed stability to the look. Finally, in true Alyx form, the Free TR 3 SP is completed by a removable Vibram outsole, attached via a series of thick straps across the midfoot.

Matthew M. Williams x Nike Free TR 3 SP Release Information

The first signature sneaker to come from Matthew Williams’ partnership with Nike has not yet been given an official release date, largely due to the fact that they are taking their time to make sure it performs flawlessly. We expect this transforming sneaker to carry a relatively high price point, and release from Nike, Alyx, and a variety of different high-level Nike retailers.
