maharishi is expanding their stateside real estate this month, celebrating the new Tribeca location with an exclusive Nike collaboration. Using the Air Max 90, the London-based brand has reconstructed it from canvas and colored it with natural dyes for an exquisite new look.

maharishi opened their doors to citizens of the United States for the first time this year, with the introduction of their new Tribeca, New York location, the first flagship store outside of their hometown in London. The brand, which was founded back in 1994 by Hardy Blechman, has called the United Kingdom its home for twenty-five years now, so the launch of their new retail location has been a welcome surprise to many. To help celebrate the opening, the eco-conservative brand has teamed up with Nike for a special release of the Air Max 90.

maharishi’s take on the Nike Air Max 90 reflects everything their brand has been about since it began in ’94. Cutting back on production waste through smarter manufacturing methods and the use of recycled textiles help achieve this goal, as well as ethical production methods and eco-friendly dyes, which are the name of the game with this AM90. Constructed from lightweight 100% cotton, this Air Max gets its olive and tan color scheme from dye derived from pomegranates and turmeric, as well as portions made from ground-up sawdust in reference to the new stores’ wooden fixtures.

The latest project from maharishi and Nike will first be available via a raffle opening on August 22nd, followed by the official release at the brand’s stores and online shop on August 30th. This special release will be exclusively available from maharishi for $150. Check out their product shots below for a better look, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more Nike release news.
