London-based fashion label KIKO KOSTADINOV has been working with Asics for the past several years on an ongoing series of running-inspired sneakers with out-of-this-world designs. That project continues this month, with the new Gel-Kiril.
KIKO KOSTADINOV and Asics’ projects are most recognized for their otherwordly, zany designs. Over the past several years, the two have produced an incredible numbers of footwear projects, ranging from rhe tame running-inspired Gel-Korika to the less-obvious Gel-Sokat from late last year. Now, the two are back together for their first release of the new decade: the Gel-Kiril. As with many of the projects that came before, the new Gel-Kiril combines Asics’ sporty style with KIKO’s own eclectic design, with every texture, color, and detail highly considered before being finalized. However, the Kiril does appear to focus largely on colors, patterns, and textures, as the upper mixes a variety of mesh, leather and patent leather for an eye-catching take. The quarter panels feature diamond-shaped grid across them, with the patent overlays adding color to the brighter mesh underneath. The Kiko Kostadinov Gel Kiril aslo features an extended outsole that runs up the toe all the way to the lacing system. The Kiko x Asics Gel-Kiril will debut in three colorways, starting with Cilantro which if followed by black, and finally Icy Blue.
KIKO KOSTADINOV X ASICS GEL-KIRIL RELEASE INFORMATION
The latest collection of footwear from Japan’s Asics and London’s KIKO KOSTADINOV are scheduled to begin release on February 8th, 2020, with the “Cilantro” colorway. All three colorways of the new Gel-Kiril will retail for roughly $231, and will be available from select KIKO retail partners.
