The box, available in the U.S. and select global markets, offers a choice of a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac, accompanied by fries, a soft drink, and a special McNugget Buddy collectible. This marks the first time in over 25 years that the McNugget Buddy collection will be reintroduced at McDonald’s. Frost, drawing inspiration from his childhood in Harlem, New York, has designed unique figurines, each embodying different aspects of self-expression and creativity. The collection features characters like Don Bernice, Uptown Moe, Waffutu, Brrrick, and Darla, all representing diverse facets of Frost’s imaginative world.
This collaboration follows the success of last year’s Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, which saw a significant increase in McDonald’s traffic. The Kerwin Frost Box aims to replicate this success, tapping into the nostalgia of the McNugget Buddies, first introduced in 1988. Frost’s personal connection with McDonald’s, stemming from his childhood fascination with the brand and its iconic characters, infuses this collaboration with authenticity and passion.
In addition to the meal, McDonald’s and Kerwin Frost are launching a merchandise line, including items from the McNugget Buddy collection and vintage pieces from Frost’s archive. This line will also feature a new footwear silhouette – the Fry Guy shoes, as seen on the Kerwin Frost McNugget Buddy. A portion of the proceeds from this merchandise line will support the Harlem Arts Alliance, a nonprofit organization that fosters emerging and established artists in New York.
