Back in October 2017, Kendrick Lamar announced a new partnership with Nike after ditching Reebok. In the months since, two Kendrick-styled Cortez shoes leaked, with Nike officially revealing the third, the Cortez Kenny I on January 9th 2018.

Yesterday, Nike took to Instagram to reveal the first official model that will see a release. Inspired by last year’s “DAMN”, Kendrick’s best-selling album, the rapper will release his first shoe with Nike later this month. The first two versions of the Kendrick Lamar Cortez were both predominantly red, and featured a litany of logos and symbols relevant to the Compton-born rapper. This new iteration is almost entirely white, with red stitching providing outlines that pop all over the shoe. The black tongue is accentuated by Nike branding modified to adopt Kendrick’s “DAMN” album title in place of the usual “NIKE”, while still utilizing the classic Nike font. The medial side of the shoe is covered by the “DAMN” logo, though it is simply a red outline to maintain the minimalist look. The shoe itself is reflective of Lamar’s latest album cover, using many of the same colors proportionally throughout the design.
