COMME des Garçon and Nike are reviving their longstanding partnership with an exciting new project this Summer. Newly leaked images show the Tokyo-founded, Paris-based fashion label will release their take on the legendary Air Jordan 1 this Summer.
COMME des Garçon might have the most creative freedom available to them out of any long-standing Nike collaborators. While their favorite silhouette is decidedly the Air Force 1, the high fashion label has worked on plenty of other famous silhouettes, including the SB Dunk Hi, Air Max 180, Air Tailwind, Shox, and Vapormax. However, this Summer, they’re taking things to the next level with a high-profile take on the Air Jordan 1. Using the current standard issue high-top as a base (not the highly sought-after Retro iteration), CDG has turned the original sneaker into what looks like a slightly out-of-date fashion sneaker. Featuring smooth leather across the upper, the tongue has been extended well above its usual height and reinforced by a wrap-around strap reminiscent of the Air Force 1 High. The strap is adorned by a presumably metal buckle at the front and accented by several solid rings dangling on the outer sides. Metal rivets are placed over the bottom and top sets of lace holes, adding to the distinctive look.

COMME Des Garçon’s wild new take on the Air Jordan 1 High has not yet been announced for release, though they are expected to drop sometime in the coming weeks. As per most Jordan 1 collaborations, this premium take will almost certainly be priced somewhere above $200. UPDATE (9/9/19): The Comme Des Garçon x Air Jordan 1 High finally has a release date. After several whiffed guesses as to when the rebuilt Air Jordan would make its debut, we finally have a date. The CDG Jordan 1 in both black and white colorways will arrive in stores next week, on September 14th, 2019. The over-the-top new look will carry a hefty retail price of $345 and will launch wherever CDG goods are sold.
