Giving Back: A Commitment to Girls in Sports
What makes the Empower Her collection truly special is its charitable mission. For every purchase from the collection, DICK’S Sporting Goods and Brooks will donate a portion of proceeds, $1 for every pair of socks and $10 for every pair of shoes bearing The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation logo, up to a combined total of $500,000 through December 31, 2026.
Proceeds benefit girls’ running programs through The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation, supporting Marathon Kids and its Girls Movement program, an initiative that addresses the significant disparity in youth sports participation, where girls drop out at twice the rate of boys by age 14. The Girls Movement empowers young girls through running, providing grants and coach empowerment kits to schools across the country. Since 2015, Brooks has invested more than $4 million in youth running through grants, performance gear for school track and cross-country teams, and the Empower Her partnership with DICK’S.
This effort is part of a broader commitment by both brands. Brooks’ “Future Run” initiative, now in its third year, continues its mission to reach one million young runners in the U.S. with a $10 million investment over five years, providing team grants, community sponsorships, and investments in coaches and mentors. Meanwhile, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation’s Sports Matter program has helped over two million kids and committed more than $100 million to support young athletes since 2014.
