More collaborative sneakers from Boston-based brands Bodega and New Balance may be on their way. After the success of their first project last month, the two are teaming up for another take on the 997S, potentially releasing later this year.
It’s a point that we’ve emphasized a lot so far this year, but we cannot stress it enough; New Balance has been absolutely killing it with their recent collaborative releases. Having released projects with CDG, No Vacancy Inn, United Arrows, Stray Rats, Madness, Aimé Leon Dore and many, many more, it is safe to say that New Balance’s classic running silhouettes are making a big splash in 2019. Luckily for us, this streak of incredible releases is likely to continue soon with another partnership with Bodega, making their second release in as many months.
The last release from Boston’s Bodega and New Balance had the sneaker world buzzing about the colorful 997S. While the release has come and gone, many are still wondering how they can put their hands on a pair, and it appears that Bodega might just have the solution. Earlier this week, when the retailer debuted their SS2019 lookbook, many fans keenly spotted a new colorway of the same silhouette they’d released being modeled alongside the clothing. Featuring a similar color blocking to the last release, the new 997S pairs tones of brown, grey, black, and green with accents in yellow and orange for another must-have casual runner for the Summer.
Honestly, we may have jumped the gun a bit on assuming that these new Bodega x New Balance 997s are releasing, but we’re just too excited. The shoes originally appeared in Bodega’s SS2019 lookbook, though they were entirely absent for the actual drop. Given their slight similarities to the original collaboration from last month, we are hoping these will release sometime in the near future. In the meantime, check out the teaser image for a better look, and stay tuned to JustFreshKicks for more information regarding these New Balance.
UPDATE (August 26th, 2019): Bodega has finally unveiled the next iteration of their fan-favorite New Balance 997s. The Boston-based retailer took to Instagram this morning to show off a single new image of the project, which simply switches up some colors and materials from their original “No Days Off” 997s to create the new “No Bad Days” colorway. However, no other information was included in the post.
