This week brought us the new Asics Sportstyle UB3-S GEL-Nimbus 9, designed in partnership with Kiko Kostadinov Studios. Along with it came the announcement of a third season of collaboration between the two brands.
Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov has been keeping things fresh at Asics for the past several years. After two seasons of massively successful collaborations, Kostadinov was named creative director for the Asics’ Sportstyle division, which blends the lines between athletic and leisure footwear. In that time, the two have been cooking up a massive array of sneakers, slowly rolling them out to the public on a monthly basis. Most recently, theAsics UB3-S GEL released quietly overseas. Taking most of its body from the standard-issue GEL-Nimbus 9, the UB3-S adds some choice overlays from other vintage Asics models, constructing the new look out of synthetic mesh and leather elements for a flashy finish, and four eye-catching colorways.
