Kiko Kostadinov’s relationship with Asics has grown tremendously in the past year, with the Bulgarian designer now working as the brand’s Sportstyle creative lead. This month, he delivers his second transformed sneaker, the HS1-S Tarther Blast Sport.

Last Winter, longtime partners Asics and Kiko Kostadinov, the Bulgarian fashion designer, announced that their collaborative relationship would be coming to a close, though Kiko and the team would continue to work hand in hand with Asics as the Sportstyle category’s creative lead. The first release with Kiko at the helm dropped in December, transforming the retro GEL-Kayano 14 in his own design language. Now, the Bulgarian designer has produced his take on the more recent Tarther Blast, a hybrid silhouette combining a lifestyle upper with performance midsoles. Titled the HS1-S Tarther Blast Sport, the new version applies premium materials across the vintage-styled Tarther upper, mixing elements like leather, suede, and metallic overlays on a neoprene-based upper. The HS1-S is available in two colorways initially, one navy blue-based color scheme with grey and light blue accents on a white midsole, and a second, much brighter version that almost covers the silhouette in a “Misty Pine” green tone, while blue and grey accents complete the look.

The second release from Asics with Kiko Kostadinov at the creative helm, the HS1-S Tarther Blast Sport, launched earlier this week and is currently available directly from Asics’s website. The limited-edition version of the SPS NovaBlast curated by Kiko comes with a $120 price tag and is likely limited in numbers.
