Since 2020, Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov has been leading Asics’ recent Sportstyle offerings. This week, the Japanese brand unveiled their latest release, the HN2-S Protoblast, coming soon.

Late in 2020, longtime partners Asics and Kiko Kostadinov, the Bulgarian fashion designer, announced that their collaborative relationship would be coming to a close, though Kiko and the team would continue to work hand in hand with Asics as the Sportstyle category’s creative lead. Since then, the two have actually ramped up their releases, launching new products on a near-monthly basis, a trend that is continuing into 2022, starting with the HN2-S ProtoBlast. Combining elements from all around Asics various offerings, the HN2-S features an upper inspired by the GEL-100 series, tooling and toe boxes from the GELHOOP 6 volleyball shoe, and takes its cushioning from the more recent NovaBlast running line to create a mashup lifestyle model. The new HN2-S Protoblast will be available in four colorways at launch, the ‘Steel Grey’ and ‘Chocolate Brown’ styles seen here, as well as more colorful options in ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Aquatic’ tones.
