The Quai54 Streetball tournament is almost upon us, which can only mean one thing: limited edition Air Jordans. This year’s release includes the Jordan 1 Mid and Jordan 8, each arriving in a fairly minimal look with flashes of color around the heels.
Summer is almost here, which means that Paris’s legendary Quai54 World Streetball tournament will be kicking off next month. Long-heralded as the ultimate destination for street basketball, Quai54 has attracted so much attention from the world’s basketball community that even Jordan Brand has been tossing their hat into the ring, creating limited edition shoes to honor the event. This week, we got our first look at the upcoming pairs for 2019, featuring the Air Jordan 1 Mid and Air Jordan 8.
Every year, the Quai54 team creates a set of colorful new graphics to be used in the tournament’s promotional products, as well as on the Air Jordans made for the event. Last year, this theme featured a split color makeup, dividing the Air Jordan 1 down the middle with red and blue haves. This year, that same split tone theme is back, this time with a more colorful twist. The Quai54 Air Jordan 1 Mid features a standard white base layer of leather, overlaid with jet black tones and a matching jeweled Swoosh. The heel segments feature all of the color splitting yellow and green down the middle for the left shoe, and red and blue for the right. Next, the Air Jordan 8 features a predominantly black makeup, featuring a colorful geometric pattern around each heel, colored after the red, blue, yellow, and green Jumpman logos on the tongue.
The new Quai54 x Air Jordan collection has not yet been announced for release, though we know they will definitely drop sometime during Summer 2019, in very limited numbers. Both the Air Jordan 1 and Jordan 8 are expected to carry premium retail prices given the nature of this project, and will release from both Nike and select retailers.
