Air Jordan 9 “Powder Blue”

The sneaker community is buzzing with the recent news that the iconic Air Jordan 9 ‘Powder Blue’ will make a highly-anticipated return in 2024. This reissue comes 14 years after the sneaker’s last release, marking a significant moment for both die-hard collectors and new enthusiasts alike.

The Air Jordan 9 ‘Powder Blue’ holds a unique place in the history of the Air Jordan line. Released for the first time in 1993, it’s a nod to Michael Jordan’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina (UNC). This colorway has only been released twice since the original launch, with a retro version appearing in 2010 that differed from the 1993 edition. Notably, the 2010 retro featured the number 23 embroidered in black on the heel, a detail absent in the original pair. Additionally, the shade of blue used in the retro version was slightly different from the OG pair.

The 2024 ‘Powder Blue’ version is expected to stay true to the original form, bringing back the sneaker’s nostalgic color palette. This return to the OG form will technically be a first for this colorway, making the 2024 release even more special. The shoes feature a white leather upper with signature stitching on the panels. Black accents adorn the tongue, eyelets, liner, Jumpman logo on the midsole, and heel pull loops. The defining ‘Powder Blue’ highlights the midsole, tongue branding, and heel. To finish off the look, a mostly white rubber outsole adds a crisp touch to the classic design.
