The Air Jordan 3 Katrina was first created for charity in 2005. Now, Jordan Brand has chosen to release the extremely rare colorway for the Jordan 3’s 30th anniversary

Hurricane Katrina, in 2005, was one of the deadliest storms to ever make landfall in the United States. In an effort to help recovery efforts and minimize the $108 billion in damages from the storm, Jordan Brand created a limited pair of the Air Jordan 3. Released exclusively at auction in 2006, the “Katrina” iteration quickly became a legend among Jordan collectors. The special version featured a white tumbled leather upper, capped by an elephant print mudguard and heel plates. The midsole features a red section on the heel, above the visible airbag, accompanied by a grey and red outsole. Other details include red eyelets as well as accompanying Jumpman logo and tongue lining. Recent in-hand pictures of the men’s pair of the shoe feature rich tumbled leather on the upper, indicating that this 2018 Jordan will feature quality materials. Images of pairs in the kids’ size range have also been spotted online, and reveal that the back of the shoe will feature a Jumpman Air logo.
