Nike and Jordan Brand recently announced a collection of releases during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in February. Among these was an updated version of the Air Jordan 3, this time including Nike’s famous Flyknit technology to create the upper.

The announcement of the Air Jordan 3 Flyknit took many by surprise, not because it wasn’t expected, but because everything else that the Brand announced had leaked in the past several weeks. It is a welcome surprise, the Jordan 3 is one of the most beloved models, let alone shoes, of all time. This updated version of the 1988 silhouette uses mostly Flyknit to craft the upper, with additional materials when needed for support.

This first Jordan 3 Flyknit to release will take on a dark grey color for the entire upper and midsole. This single color is broken up by tiny bits of white throughout the shoe, adding visual texture to an otherwise plain upper. Every bit of the Jordan 3 upper has been transformed, featuring varying knit patterns on the upper to provide more structure along areas like the lower lateral sides, as well as the toe and heel guards. This pair features a black leather lining to provide a smooth ride with the Flyknit, and promises to be one of the lightest Jordan 3’s to date. The blacked out midsole is finished off with a ghostly green outsole, though it is unclear whether or not it will glow in the dark.
