The Air Jordan 1 Zoom is finally here. Released earlier this week, and one of the first to switch up the timeless sneaker’s cushioning, the high-top silhouette has already surfaced in a new “Racer Blue” colorway, dropping next month.
The Air Jordan 1 is the ultimate classic sneaker. Since its debut in 1985, the silhouette has released in hundreds of different colorways and variations, some more popular than others. This year, Jordan Brand made a major switchup with the Jordan 1, replacing the titular underfoot Air technology with Nike’s fan-favorite Zoom airbags for the first time ever. The updated version of the Jordan 1 also comes with a new look, rebuilding some of the upper in new materials. The shoe’s toebox and quarter panels remain in the classic tumbled leather, with clear plastic overlays making up the lacing system and mudguard. The ankle and collar of this Jordan 1 are constructed from a knit nylon mesh, which is also reinforced with a translucent plastic covering and bound by nylon webbing. Most of this Jordan 1 zoom comes in white, with the plastic overlays lending a more neutral grey tone, while the inner lining of the shoe comes in Racer Blue.
AIR JORDAN 1 HIGH ZOOM R2T “RACER BLUE” RELEASE INFORMATION
Nike’s next colorway of the Zoom Air-equipped Jordan 1 High R2T is scheduled to release sometime in January of 2020, though no specific date has been announced yet. The “Racer Blue” colorway of the Jordan 1 R2T will retail for the new standard retail price of $175, and launch from both Nike and select retailers. UPDATE (2/21/20): The next colorway of the Air Jordan 1 High Zoom has finally been scheduled for release next month, on March 14th, 2020. While Nike has yet to officially confirm this date, the timing seems right, as this is a new version of the Jordan 1 and March is Air Max Month.
