Teddy Santis has been racking up projects with New Balance, as both the creative director for Made in USA, and through his brand Aimé Leon Dore. This week, he unveiled the ALD x New Balance 991 Made in England, coming soon.
Aimé Leon Dore and New Balance‘s collaborations over the past years have been a tour de force, consistently being named as fan-favorite releases. Led by Teddy Santis, now the creative director of NB’s Made in USA line, the partners continue to surprise us with regular new releases. This week, Santis took to Instagram to show off the next silhouette in the ALD x NB franchise, 1982’s 991 runner. The successor to the original 990, the chunky sneaker has been quietly making appearances in MADE formats in the past few years, but now will be in the spotlight with this latest project. So far, we’ve seen two distinct colorways of the ALD 991, the first of which can be clearly seen in several photos sporting lush brown and olive green overlays on an off-white base. The latter is a more subtle, seen in one on-foot image and sporting grey suede overlays in place of the brown leather.
