The adidas Prophere is still finding its place in the brand’s Originals catalog. The chunky silhouette, new for 2018, has taken a noticeable absence since its debut. Now, the shoe returns in an exciting new “Desert Camo” colorway, coming soon.
The Prophere was a somewhat unexpected silhouette, built to provide a more modern take on the current 90’s inspired trend. The shoe features a very aggressive shape and technologically advanced materials to help bring it into the current day. The shoe makes use of the Riemen system that adidas pioneered in the 90’s, which utilizes stripes not only as visuals but as functional support structures as well. These stripes can be seen around the medial side of the toe box, as well as on the rear heel tab. The midfoot area is strengthened by another design idea from the past, three bold stripes on either side. Taking on a much wider format than usual, these padded stripes provide lockdown to the shoe, and double as the eyelets for the laces. The latest colorway of the Prophere to arrive at retailers give the shoe a much needed graphic makeover. Until now, colorways were usually monochromatic, but the new “Desert Camo” pattern is just the juice that Prophere needed to shoe its capability as an adidas sneaker.
