The adidas I-5923 first arrived in March 2017 to a strong fan base that loved the classic runner shape paired with the best midsole adidas has to offer. Now, the brand is building on their popular casual model with a new “Mesa” colorway.

The I-5923 takes plenty of inspiration from the history of adidas, utilizing many common design aesthetics from the brand’s extensive timeline. Originally named the Iniki, adidas ran into legal trouble with the name, resulting in a whole new rollout for the shoe, now titled the I-5923. The shoe features a simple canvas upper, with simple suede layovers to cover the toe, heel, and eyelets. These panels provide added support around the edges of the shoe so that it locks in your foot better, as the canvas material can be extremely loose and flexible. Three stripes are added to both the lateral and medial sides to identify the shoe, and a faux-leather heel tab is emblazoned with the adidas Originals Trefoil. This iteration comes in a new Mesa Brown color, very similar to the one used by Pusha T on his latest “Bodega Babies” EQT. The entire upper of the shoe is in this color, while the stripes and heel tab are white in contrast. This I-5923 is finished off with a traditional white Boost midsole and a gum outsole.
