Asics’ Gel-Kayano 5 OG first made its return in 2019, arriving in dozens of fan-favorite colorways and collaborations throughout the year. Since then, it’s taken a back seat to other Asics projects. However, this week, the Kayano 5 resurfaced in a stealthy new color scheme.
Asics’ GEL sneakers have dominated the brand’s releases over the past year, thanks to a resurgence in popularity in the vintage technology. Now, Asics is steadily releasing new colorways with updated materials to keep up with the growing demand. This month, the GEL-Kayano 5 is back in its original form, this time sporting a brand new black and neon green color scheme. The look begins with a grey mesh base layer for the vintage runner, before adding a series of leather overlays in inky black tones. Pops of neon green is added to the Asics motion logo, tongue branding, and the midsole unit for a flash of color.

Asics’ latest colorway of the OG GEL-Kayano 5 quietly released in Japan earlier this week, with a global drop anticipated for some time in the coming weeks. The sleek new black & neon green colorway fo the classic Kayano runner will come with the usual $150 price tag, launching from both Asics and select retailers.
