Converse’s Renew Initiative Refreshes the Chuck 70 With Colorful new Uppers

Sneaker production has changed dramatically in the last few years, introducing new, less harmful manufacturing methods on a widespread scale. This week, Converse’s ‘Renew” initiative continues with upcycled pairs of the classic Chuck 70 in bright Spring colors.

Converse’s sustainability program has garnered a lot of attention since it debuted last Fall, rebuilding classic Converse sneakers with more environmentally-friendly materials and manufacturing processes. Thankfully, the Boston-based brand appears to be ramping up these special releases, with new styles hitting retailers on a seemingly weekly basis. Today, we have our first look at the next release, which flips the fan-favorite Chuck 70 in factory second materials and bright new colorways. While maintaining the standard Converse Chuck appearance, both pairs have added some of their traditional canvas to the midsole of the shoe, wrapping all the way around to provide some texture and subtle off-white color to the otherwise smooth rubber. The first pair in this collection, the Chuck 70 Hi, features a tri-color scheme, with purple on the medial side, orange for the tongue, and a muted gold tone on the lateral canvas sides. The Chuck 70 Ox goes for something a little simpler, opting for faded red and blue on the side paneling with plain white making up the rest.

CONVERSE CHUCK 70 RENEW “MULTICOLOR” RELEASE INFORMATION

Converse Renew’s latest release, once again featuring the Chuck 70 Hi and Ox, are scheduled to release later this week, on May 15th, 2020. The multicolored upcycled pairs will launch from both Converse and retailers like AsphaltGold for the usual price tag of $95 and 90.
