New Balance’s 99x series has seen a revival this year, bursting in popularity as 2019 goes on. This week, the brand introduces a new collaborative project, teaming up with the UK’s END. on a Persian rug-inspired 997.
New Balance’s fan-favorite 997 has seen a lot of shelf time this year, from special-edition in house releases to collaborations with Bodega, Horween, Redwing, and more. Now, the vintage runner is bakc this week with another new special project, this time from the brains of the UK’s END. Clothing. Inspired by exquisite Persian rugs, the latest 997 color scheme mixes some of their very recognizable colors into a bold new look, complete with rug-inspired details on the inner lining. The 997’s mesh base layer comes in tan, then thouroughly reinforced by pigskin suede overlays in maroon & burgundy. More tan pieces make up the 997’s stiffer ankle pieces, while accents in blue along the outsole, branding, and oversized ‘N’ logos completes the look.
