Vans and SZA are taking their VANSZA partnership public. The singer has spent time building one-off pairs for herself, and that project is now becoming a full retail run split across two collections, first shown at a pop-up at 260 Bowery in New York City on September 10th and 11th.
The pop-up leaned into a fall theme, filling the space with trees, fallen leaves, and other outdoor touches. The debut VANSZA drop reworks two Vans staples: a black and white Knu Skool Mule that trades the model’s usual bulk for a slip-on build, and an Authentic finished with a worn-in look and fish graphics across the upper. That Authentic also has a heel that folds down, a detail built around SZA’s habit of stepping on the backs of her own sneakers. The move follows other recent partner drops like the Vans x KPop Demon Hunters collection in widening Vans’ collaborator lineup this year.
The Vans x SZA VANSZA Collection Design
A second collection follows in 2027, headlined by a new model called the LX Tabi Hiker. The low-top outdoor shoe uses a split-toe shape, cable laces, no traditional tongue, and a rugged rubber sole that climbs partway up the sides. Colorways shown so far include a blue and orange-green pair, a brown and green-purple pair, and a black pair with red and yellow accents. The Knu Skool also returns for this drop in a RealTree-style camouflage print.
