Japanese running brand Asics continues to dominate in the SportStyle world with excellent collaborations. The brand has been on top of it for years, stretching back to their early days with Ronnie Fieg and Kith, but this decade their output has increased dramatically, as their retro runners have grown in popularity since the pandemic era. Asics’ rise can be attributed to a number of factors, but the big three are most likely price, comfort, and styling. Their older silhouettes, repurposed for casual wear, remain at a very approachable price range, while competitors like Nike and New Balance continue to raise theirs. Asics also is all about comfort, all the time. The retro mesh and synthetic look is tried and true, and the running tech inside makes them comfortable all day every day.
This week, the latest collaboration from Asics’ SportStyle team has surfaced, courtesy of the Brazilian retailer CARNAN. The project is a follow-up to their debut PATH collection from 2024, with the new work highlighting the GEL-Cumulus 16 for Path II. The runner comes in a layered design, featuring a wide gauge mesh underlay, and a mix of leather and suede for the shoe’s overlays. Each of these pieces comes dressed in a regal shade of purple. Striking teal accents peak out from underneath the mesh, as well as making up the various branding hits. The shoes will release alongside a small apparel capsule, including tees, jackets, and pants.

The upcoming collaboration from Brazilian retailer Carnan and Asics has been scheduled to arrive next week, on August 19th, 2026. This drop will be through Carnan’s website and retail stores, with a wider release on the following day, August 20th, via Asics. The “Path II” edition of the GEL-Cumulus 16 comes in a stunning purple colorway with teal accents and black soles, with plenty of small details peppered across the shoe. Pricing for this project is currently unknown.
