News of Nike SB’s Color of the Month series for their Air Force 1 first surfaced back in June. Since then, three of the four pairs have been revealed, now including Nocturnal’s Cool Grey suede pair of the AF1, coming in 2027.
Nike’s history with Color of the Month Air Force 1s begins way back in the 1980s, shortly after the silhouette’s debut in ’82. The Swoosh was uncertain about keeping the AF1 in their catalog moving forward, and were prepared to eliminate the model from their basketball offerings. Three stores in Baltimore, Downtown Locker Room, Cinderella Shoes, and Charley Rudo Sports, cited the AF1 as a best seller, and asked Nike keep the shoe in production with a series of rotating colorways to keep fans coming back for more. Nike obliged, and the Air Force 1 has remained a staple for over forty years. Now, with Nike SB’s modified pair out in the world, they are introducing their own Color of the Month series this Fall.
The SB team’s Color of the Month project will arrive through a series of collaborative partnerships with skate shops around the world. Amsterdam’s Ben-G will represent Europe, Instant Skateboards for Japan, an unseen Fly Streetwear pair for China, and Nocturnal for North America. Based in Philadelphia, Nocturnal seems to have taken inspiration from the Eagles for their color scheme, applying a cool grey suede across the upper, with striking green accents for the Swoosh, heel tabs, and outsoles. Pairs will come with two sets of laces, one green one grey, while a black outsole completes the look.
NOCTURNAL X NIKE SB AIR FORCE 1 RELEASE INFORMATION
The latest pair from Nike SB’s Air Force 1 color of the month series does not have a rumored release date yet, only expected to land in Spring 2027. Philadelphia’s Nocturnal skate shop is the collaborator for this “Cool Grey” look, adding Court Green accents and a black midsole to complete the look, an apt pair for any Eagles fans in the area. Pairs are expected to release regionally, priced at $120.
