No Comply New Balance Numeric 480 Hippies And Cowboys 13

No Comply skateshop in Austin, Texas released their first New Balance 480 collaboration last year. This week, the two are releasing a follow-up paying tribute to Austin’s music culture with the “Hippies & Cowboys” edition.

The debut 480 release from No Comply and New Balance landed late in 2025. Colored in dark green with a black sole and yellow accents, the look celebrated the aesthetics of the skateshop’s brick & mortar retail store. Their next release will turn the focus outward, celebrating the roots of Outlaw Country in Austin through a “Hippies & Cowboys” color scheme for the Numeric 480 model. The theme of clashing cultures comes from the legend Willie Nelson, who, in 1971 left Nashville to return home to Texas, where he found a new audience waiting. Nelson contacted his friend, Waylon Jennings, to accompany him playing shoes around the Lone Star state, citing the new crowds as their ideal audience.

In the early ’70s, Jennings and Nelson were playing a show at the Armadillo World Headquarters and Waylon took a peek through the curtain to get a glimpse of the crowd. He saw a sea of both hippies and cowboys waiting for the show, hanging out and getting along without fighting. Discussing his shift from Tennessee to Texas, Willie Nelson later said “I saw hippies and rednecks drinking beer together and smoking dope together and having a good time together and I knew it was possible to get all groups of people together…music would bring them together.”

No Comply’s fresh take on the New Balance 480 blends these two worlds together seamlessly. The shoe starts with a brown Arid Stone suede for the model’s base layers, adding black overlays in a mix of full grain leather and more suede. The hippie & cowboy touches are subtle, adding a paisley pattern backing to the N logos on the right shoe, and a tie-dye canvas backing on the left. The insoles are made to match for each shoe as well. The release also has a limited supply of special packaging available, the guitar case-inspired shoe box with velvet lining will be given to the first 200 customers at their in-store release this Saturday.
