New Balance has readied some new styles for their 990v4 for Spring ’26, separate from the Made in USA line the shoe has largely existed in for the past few years. One of the fresh styles, a “Tangerine” edition, has already release from some stores.
The 990 line from New Balance is one of the brand’s longest running series of sneakers. The larger 99x family features plenty of iconic models like the 996, 997 and 998, but the 990 has it’s own tree of updated styles, denoted by the version number tacked on to the end of style number. The OG 990 arrived in the early 1980s, and was succeeded by the v2 in 1998, which in turn was succeeded by the v3 in 2012. From there the updates started to move a little faster, with the v4 arriving in 2016, v5 in 2019, and the current model, the v6, in 2022.
This season, the Boston brand is revisiting the 990v4 for a series of new colorways. These pairs are not a part of the Made in USA line that has defined the model since it’s introduction ten years ago, delivering some of the best NB has to offer in a more affordable package. The latest release brings a “Tangerine” shade of orange to the runner’s midsole, which is paired with some complimentary shades to complete the look. Dried Orange mesh makes up the base layer, with NB grey mid layers and a Moonbeam off-white suede rounding out the palette.
