New Balance’s Gator Run Retro Lands in “Sea Salt” Suede Next Week

This season, New Balance has revived another retro trainer from their archives for a new life. The Gator Run, originally released in the 1980s, is back, and has new colors lined up for all of Spring/Summer 2026, including this “Sea Salt” style next week.

The New Balance Gator Run is back in 2026 as part of New Balance’s growing focus on reviving overlooked archival silhouettes. Originally introduced in 1982 as a performance turf trainer built for traction and multi-sport use, the model stood out for its aggressive, tooth-like outsole. Its modern retro reissue transformed the shoe into a lifestyle hybrid, featuring crocodile-embossed leather for its debut that leaned into fashion appeal while preserving its athletic roots. Now, New Balance is giving the slim trainer a makeover with an entirely shaggy suede build for Spring. Set to arrive next week, the new style pits the shoe in their off-white Sea Salt shade for all of its textile panels, paired with a bright hit of Star Burst yellow for the laces.
