Ronnie Fieg has shared a full look at a special pair of the Nike KD18 this week, created as a friends & family exclusive for Kith. The look is inspired by the Air Max 95 “Neon”, recreating the retro runner through the new performance basketball silhouette.
Kith has produced dozens, if not hundreds of exclusive, hyper limited sneakers over the years, but rarely in the performance space. Kith’s first major project with Nike Basketball was in 2018, reworking the LeBron 15 with some incredibly detailed patterns and special flourishes. These pairs were crafted for that year’s All-Star Game celebration, and some colors were created exclusively for friends & family of Kith. This year, the New York-based retailer is running it back, zeroing in on Kevin Durant’s new KD18 for a special release.
Ronnie Fieg first teased his upcoming KD project earlier this month, sharing a teaser of the unique colorway. Today, he shared a much closer look at the shoe through a full series of glamor shots. This pair combines three design elements, the base KD18, the “Neon” color scheme of the Air Max 95, and Kith’s signature monogram print, molded into the leather layers of the upper. This pair has now been confirmed to be a F&F release, likely created in limited numbers specifically for Fieg and Durant first, as they will host a special talk at Kith’s Los Angeles location this week, ahead of the ASG on Sunday.
As of right now, the Kith x Nike KD18 inspired by the Air Max 95 “Neon” will remain a friends & family exclusive. Pairs were initially teased several weeks ago, but it appears they were made for the upcoming conversation between Ronnie Fieg and Kevin Durant during NBA All-Star Weekend in LA. But hey, Ronnie did gift an F&F pair to a “known hater” on Twitter last week, so best of luck if you’re going to try that route.
