New season, new colors of our favorites from New Balance. With Fall rapidly approaching, brands are shifting their color palettes for seasonally appropriate styles. This week, we have an early look at a “Catawba Grape” pair of the 991v2, coming soon.
The 991v2 from New Balance is the latest update in a long line of different iterations on classic 990 sneakers. Introduced late in 2023 on the heels of another updated model, the 990v6, the 991 has taken over as one of the mainstays of the brand’s Made in UK line, releasing regularly in fresh new styles.
This week, the Boston brand has lined up a few new colorways of the v2 in Fall-ready shades. One pair in “Gold Earth” crossed our timelines last week, and has now been joined by a “Catawba Grape” style. Named after a grape varietal used in winemaking and sweet spreads, the new look features a rich and deep purple shade. The color is applied to the shoe’s mesh base, leather mid layers, and suede outer panels, while light and dark shades of grey break up the blocking.
