Australian retailer UP THERE has cooked up a new release in collaboration with Asics this season. Their first project since last Summer, the Melbourne store is taking on the GEL-Kayano 12.1 for this release, dressing the shoe in a smooth neutral colorway.
Started in 2010 by James Barrett, Brendan Mitchell, and Jason Paparoulas, Up There is Melbourne’s go-to sneaker & streetwear boutique. Its flagship retail space blends high-end design with down-to-earth vibes. Up There curates premium sneakers from Nike, New Balance, Adidas, Asics, and Salomon alongside global fashion labels like Kapital, Engineered Garments, and Junya Watanabe. The store’s reputation as a collaborative partner has become an identifying feature of the store in recent years, with projects from New Balance and Asics paving their way to stardom.
The last release from Asics and UP THERE came last Summer, giving us a colorful rendition of the GEL-Terrain model to tear up throughout the warmer months. This week, the next project from the partners has surfaced early, through official images loaded onto the Japanese footwear brand’s website. The GEL-Kayano 12.1 is the canvas for this release, and takes on a cool neutral color scheme. The shoe’s mesh base comes in soft grey tones, paired with a striking olive green patent leather overlay. This is mounted on top of a black midsole unit, with small hints of red to complete the look.
