Tyrrell Winston is back in the sneaker world this week, making his debut with adidas through the Lightblaze POD silhouette. Dressed in a white canvas to show the shoe aging over time, this new collaboration is available now.
Tyrrell Winston may not be a household name in the sneaker world, but his art has almost certainly made it’s way through your feed. Based in Detroit, Winston’s work focuses on discarded objects and the stories they tell. His work with deflated basketballs, usually arranged in a grid, earned him a spot on Undefeated’s Los Angeles billboard in 2019, before formally entering the world of footwear in 2022 through a Reebok collaboration. After a follow-up release with Reebok the next year, Tyrrell has been absent from sneakers until this week, debuting a new partnership with adidas.
Winston’s debut release for adidas has arrived this morning out of the blue, featuring the Lightblaze POD as his canvas. The model is a relatively newer silhouette from the Three Stripes, taking technology from their performance models and applying it to a lifestyle offering. Winston’s version constructs the shoe’s upper in a plain white canvas, using an overprinting technique to add layers of tan and white and giving the appearance of extensive wear and tear. The special pair also adds a leather sockliner that will soften over time for some added comfort.
