adidas’ Forum basketball sneaker was introduced in 1984, offering a highly technical basketball shoe in both high and low options. Now, the Three Stripes is celebrating the Forum 26 years later, starting with a special project by New Orleans’ Sneaker Politics.
adidas Originals will be introducing the classic Forum basketball silhouette to their lineup soon, finally cycling the twenty-six-year-old silhouette out of the performance category and into lifestyle. While the Forum was a top-of-the-line court shoe in its heyday, it is far better suited to casual wear and special releases in modern times. Luckily, adidas is ready to give us both in spades, starting off with a special-edition release from Louisiana’s Sneaker Politics in the form of a community-driven giveaway. The release, which features a striking new colorway of the Forum low in white with royal blue accents and Sneaker Politics branding, will only be available in the communities that Politics is present, namely Texas and Louisiana, with a total of five cities housing retail stores. While details are still hazy, the retailer stated that a numbered 500 pairs would be available for free to members of these communities.
