The Saucony Aya Returns for the First Time Since 1994 This Week

Saucony’s penchant for reviving vintage sneakers is one of the best things happening in the footwear world right now. This month, the Originals team has reached into their 1994 archives for a rerelease of the pivotal Aya runner.

Born in 1994, the Saucony Aya was originally designed to perform during the lengthy running portions of triathlons. Constructed from a variety of materials including leather, mesh, and nylon, the Aya’s extremely lightweight build and layered look made them a hot commodity amongst runners at the time. Now, the team behind Saucony Originals is reviving the vintage runner for the modern market. The first colorway for the fan-favorite running shoe begins with a bold purple base layer visible throughout the upper. Reinforcing layers around the toe box and heel counter are made from smooth white suede, while a clear TPU Saucony logo is emblazoned across either side of the shoe. The new look is completed by bright orange laces to lock you in, as well as the addition of a toggle for quick access in and out of the Aya.
