Salehe Bembury’s tenure with New Balance continues later this year. Over the weekend, while answering questions on Instagram, the footwear designer teased his next release with the Boston brand, two eclectic styles of the 1000 runner.
Salehe Bembury has been incredibly busy over the last few years. The hired gun footwear designer has lent his talents to Crocs, New Balance, Puma, and Vans since he burst onto the scene back in 2020. New Balance has been a regular partner of his, giving him the freedom to play with some of their classic silhouettes, as well as helping to introduce some of their new and retro styles along the way.
This weekend, Bembury shared an early look at his next release in collaboration with the Boston brand, this time featuring the 1000, one of the few recent retros he hasn’t used as a canvas yet. Showing us just the heels of two colorways, both pairs feature a ton of different colors and materials throughout, and appear to feature either extra laces or a colorful braided charm as a nice bonus. On the left, one pair comes in a dark golden shade of suede with iridescent purple overlays and red accents, and on the right, a dark brown suede base with vibrant blue overlays and a dark green sole.

The next project from Salehe Bembury and New Balance has not been announced yet, but is currently expected to release in Fall 2025. Featuring the 1000 runner in two colorful styles, pairs will be available first from his Spunge website, likely followed by a wider release from NB and select retailers. No pricing info is available yet.
