UPDATE: Well, there you have it folks. The 2015 Nike Air Mag is now confirmed to be released Auction only during the Spring of 2016. You can view Nike’s official statement via the link below.
UPDATE: Michael J. Fox just revealed the NEW self-lacing version of the Nike MAG via the Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Twitter Account. The tweet confirmed that the shoes are coming out Spring of 2016. You can read the tweet & photo below.
UPDATE: A new tweet by Michael J. Fox reveals a letter he received from Tinker Hatfield, which details Nike’s new Air Mag plans. It looks like the Mags will be auctioned off to the Michael J. Fox Foundation like before in 2011. You can view the letter below. We can still hope for an online release of some sort later today, but who knows. Heidi Burgett’s tweet from earlier today (which you can read below) reading “The first pair of self-lacing Nike Mag shoes is in New York City” does give us some hope, however.
UPDATE: Heidi Burgett has just tweeted that “The first pair of self-lacing Nike Mag shoes is in New York City.” While all of us are not exactly sure what she means, this further confirms the new Mags released today, October 21st. Hopefully we will see an online release of some sort later today, perhaps at 4:29PM PST.
UPDATE: It sure looks like its going down tomorrow. Nike hit us with a surprise tweet tagging Michael J. Fox (Marty McFly in Back to the Future) saying “see you tomorrow.”
This could very well hint at a MAG drop tomorrow. I mean they can be referring to the Marty McFly Bruins they are bringing back but i don’t see Nike letting everyone down like this come tomorrow.
Following Nike’s tweet, Heidi Burgett (Nike PR Director) quoted the tweet and added “We’ll find out tomorrow if self-lacing shoes will be part of the future.” Also hinting at a MAG drop tomorrow. Now she can be referring to another shoe that will be self-lacing other then the MAGS, but then again i think all of this adds up to a MAG drop tomorrow. Be on the lookout.
We are just one day away from “Back to the Future” Day, October 21st, and all sneakerheads are wondering the same thing: Will we get to see the Air Mags release tomorrow at 4:29PM PST? The answer is no one knows. If you asked me personally, I believe their is a strong reason to think we will see a launch tomorrow. But Nike has not confirmed or denied any statements so we’ll just have to wait it out and see.
The movie, Back to the Future ll featuring Marty McFly came out in 1989 and grossed $331 million worldwide. Marty McFly went into the future to the year 2015 with a pair of Air Mags on his feet. He arrived at 4:29PM, which would be expected release time tomorrow. The scientific fiction film was a hit worldwide & Marty McFly’s shoes, the Nike Air Mag, was as well. The shoes became a huge icon for kids and adults growing up watching the film. Now one of the most hyped shoes of all time, The Nike Air Mag is rumored to make its return tomorrow. No sightings or confirmation of a new MAG have been sighted yet, however, but we are all hoping to perhaps experience one of the biggest sneaker releases of all time tomorrow on Back to the Future day.
