Overkill and the adidas team have a close relationship developed over years of collaborating on special projects together. This month, that partnership is introducing something entirely new: the ZX 8500. Inspired by graffiti writers, the hybrid ZX debuts this week.
Overkill’s longstanding relationship with adidas is taking a big step this month, as the Berlin-based retailer will be debuting the new ZX 8500, a brand new model combining two of the most beloved of the ZX family, the 8000 and the 9000. While the Overkill team is no stranger to the ZX franchise, creating a mashup of two of the greats comes naturally, blending the two different models together into one exciting new creation. The initial colorway for the new hybrid model takes its inspiration from graffiti and street art, which is abundantly available in Berlin, and Germany as a whole. The graffiti-inspired color scheme mixes neon shades of pink, green, and blue set against white sections as a backdrop. The shoe is covered in tiny details nodding to the art of writing, including embroidered Overkill tags on the tongue and heels, as well as Overkill branding on the toe box. Each pair of the Overkill x adidas ZX 8500 also come with a set of shrouds to protect the shoes from paint while you write.

The latest project from adidas and Berlin’s Overkill boutique, the hybrid ZX 8500, has been scheduled to release later this week, on April 9th, 2021. Dressed in a wild multicolor look inspired by graffiti writers and delivered with a protective shroud, each pair comes with an absurdly reasonable price tag of $140, launching exclusively from Overkill.
