Nike Revives the Sprint Sister as a Lifestyle Model in 2026

Nike is once again looking to their past to inform the present. This week, a 1979 track spike has resurfaced as a modern-day lifestyle model. The Sprint Sister will launch in a smooth new “Ridgerock” colorway very soon.

The Nike Sprint Sister dates back to 1979, when Nike launched its first track spike specifically designed for women. Ahead of its time in both concept and design, the shoe largely faded into the archive before getting its first retro moment in 2005 as part of Nike Sportswear’s Sport Exotic collection, reworked on a new last while staying true to the original’s slim, low profile shape. Now, with low-profile sneakers back in the zeitgeist, the Sprint Sister is getting a third act. The silhouette has surfaced in the Swoosh’s official images this week, donning a “Ridgerock” brown color scheme for its debut. The look adds patterned Swooshes, which are applied by cutting out a floral-like silhouette across the iconic branding, while four different lace options provide plenty of opportunities for unique style.
