Nike is going buck wild with their Kobe releases this year, celebrating the Mamba’s iconic sneakers with plenty of special new releases and classic retros. This week, we got our first look at the “Moonwalker” Kobe 9, coming this Summer.
With the dispute between Nike and the Kobe Bryant estate settled with Vanessa Bryant in 2022, the Swoosh has been hard at work bringing us plenty of Kobe sneakers to make up for lost time. This year, they have introduced a new wave of Protro models, which includes the Kobe 9, an iconic model from the franchise that had a high-top version that might be the tallest performance basketball shoe ever.
This week, we got an official look from Nike at one of their retro releases for the 9 Elite model, the Moonwalker color scheme. Seen on the feet of Caitlin Clark in their recent ad campaign, the pair honors the late great Michael Jackson and his signature moonwalk dance move, with a print of the moon on the shoe’s outsoles. The knit upper comes in a Hyper Grape purple shade, with white branding and black soles filling out the rest of the look.
