Kobe Bryant’s high school alma mater, Lower Merion, has been the subject for many special releases of his Nike shoes. This week, we have our first look at an upcoming Protro release of the Kobe 5 colorway from 2010, returning next Spring.
Kobe Bryant’s history of Lower Merion shoes pays tribute to where his basketball journey began. Nike has honored his alma mater, Lower Merion High School, through several special releases across his signature line. The Zoom Kobe 4, Kobe 6, and Kobe 11 each feature the school’s burgundy, grey, and white color scheme, along with “Aces” logos and nods to his early achievements. These shoes celebrate Kobe’s roots and enduring connection to the place that first shaped his drive, discipline, and basketball legacy.
The latest retro Kobe colorway to get a rerelease in the new Protro format is another edition of the Kobe 5, this time from 2010. The “Lower Merion” colorway will likely stick closely to the original, and the early photo here seems to confirm this. The model has the same coloring as the OG, featuring a metallic silver upper paired with a dark Team Red shade for the forefoot, eyestays, and Swooshes. White toes, tongues, and midsoles round out the palette. The photo does not show the heel, so we’ll have to wait to confirm the Aces logo until more pairs emerge.
