Nike’s ISPA division has been up to some interesting stuff this year, releasing a flood of new footwear and apparel. Now, having unveiled their Summer 2020 lineup, we have a closer look at one of the most intriguing silhouettes yet, the ISPA Road Warrior.
The lineup of footwear from Nike’s secretive ISPA division has grown more and more complex with each new release, delivering some of the most advanced Swoosh sneakers ever directly to consumers. This week, ISPA unveiled a roundup of some upcoming releases, lifting the veil on some previously leaked silhouettes. Among these is the Road Warrior, a wild-looking new model packed with some interesting innovations, merging ideas from basketball, running, training, and outdoor lines. Starting from the ground up, the open-air midsole is derived from early Shox prototypes, shifting away from the bouncing effect of the springs in favor of double-stacked Zoom Air pods for a cushioning effect. The upper was built with training and outdoor pursuits in mind, constructed from a breathable knit patchwork with plastic overlays to provide support. The Road Warrior also features a split-toe design, a design element usually limited to silhouettes like the Air Rift. The Road Warrior also features a two-strap lockdown mechanism, ensuring quick access and removal.

The Nike ISPA’s next technological marvel, the Road Warrior release has been further pushed to July 17, 2020. The highly-advanced new silhouette will come with a whopping price tag of $500, and will likely be available exclusively from Nike.
